NOTD OPI Suzy Skis in the Pyrenees

27 Jan

From the OPI De Espana winter 09/10 collection. This is actually the only one I bought from the collection, not because it was a boring collection but it just didn’t appeal that much to me.

I said in the Sapphire in the Snow post that I thought this polish is a darker more muted version than the Sapphire… It is darker yes and in the same range (muted, blackish in some light). But its no cousin!
Suzy Skis is very dark and as you can see from my pictures is it nearly impossible to get a picture of it that doesn’t make it look like black… It is not black and not blue, it is a dark bluish charcoal. The pictures in this post are the best ones I could get, my camera does not take good pictures of blues – which is not that convinient as I love blues and have many of them!

Coats: 1 OPI Nail Envy, 1 Orly Bonder, 3 coats OPI SSitP, 1 coat Orly Glosser and 2 drops OPI Drip Dry drops.
Light: Daylight, afternoon sun.

I also started a new routine using new products (see from the post about the TD package). This worked well, but I had some problems with bubbles. Have had very few problems with this before, so am thinking it was something with the products I used:

Really liked the Drip Dry drops, but will try it with a fast dry tc next time – maybe that will help with the bubbles? To be continued…
(The grey little blob in between the Glosser and polish is my husbands African Grey parrot that was interested in what I was doing.)

January package from TD!

21 Jan

Am not on a no-buy, but on a one package a month buy. January’s package came from TransDesign and was a mix between polishes, gifts and mini treatments.
L to R: OPI Lincoln Park in the Dark (gift for friend), OPI Mad as a Hatter and Abseloutely Alice, Essie Mint Candy Apple, Orly Glosser and Bonder (minis), OPI  Thrill of Brazil (gift for my mom). And the bottom is a OPI Envy Express, mini treatments of OPI Nail Envy, Nail Maintanance and OPI Drip Dry drops.

The gorgeous glitter that is OPI Mad as a Hatter, from the January 2010 Alice in Wonderland collection.

The difference between an Orly mini and an OPI mini 🙂

NOTD China Glaze Cowardly Lyn’ + bonus christmas nail art

20 Jan

From the China Glaze winter 2010 Wizards of Ooh Ahz collection. It is a re-release of a collection that came in 2001 and the polishes (except for Ruby Pumps that is in the core collection) have been notoriously hard to find. The new release was highly anticipated.

Cowardly Lyn’ is a frosty gold with gold glitter. Normally I don’t go for frosty polishes, but I really like this one. Think it’s the glitter that makes it so lovely. It takes several layers to get opaque, I wore both this and it’s cousin, the silver The Ten Man, with VNL (visible nail line). But despite this and the fact that it is frosty I like it 🙂

Coats: 2 Orly Armor, 1 coat CND Stikey, 3 coats CL and 1 Nubar Diamont.
Light: Daylight, overcast.

My christmas mani, poorly excecuted nail art:
It is not the most pretty nail art and I used ages doing the stripes. I did not have a pink nail art pen and mixed the Misa Heaven White and the red nail art pen to get a pink. I have all the equipment for great nail art, but will let it rest for now – leaving it up to the experts 🙂

Coats: 2 Orly Armor, 1 coat CND Stikey, 3 coats Misa Heaven White, 1 coat Misa Sugar Daddy and 1 Nubar Diamont. Stripes are made by red and white nail art pen.
Light: Daylight, overcast.
