Shopping: Sinful polishes

28 May

Left to right: NYX Jungle, Sinful San Fransisco, Gorgeous, Purple Glitter, Fiji.

L to R: Sinful Pearl Harbor, Aruba Rythm, Glass Pink, California, Coco Diamond

All the polishes are from Cherry Culture and was only $2, cheap and cheerful! Have not tried any yet, my untried list has grown lately and have over 30 I still haven’t tried or swatched 🙂 Will post a list of them later, maybe I have some you want to see?

NOTD OPI You Ottaware Purple + Chg Orange Marmalade Pedi

26 May

Purple OPI from the Canadian Collection fall 2004. I love purples and this is no exception. It took 4 coats to get close to bottle color, so a bit thin. The color a vivid medium purple, and it looks maroon/purplish on the first coat but gradually builds to a nice purple shimmer. (Please excuse the tip pull/wear, I’m working on eliminating it!)

2 coats Orly Armor, 1 coat CND Stickey, 4 coats polish, 1 coat SV.

Pedi after jump.

Shopping: Nubar polishes

25 May

Peacock Feathers, Diamont tc, Pasadena Purple

Nubar is one of the brands that you can’t get here in Norway where I live. I have been lemming these for so long, so was very happy when I found out that an e-tailer in Denmark sold these, Aromatique.
I am very pleased with the three I got, it might not be that obvious in the picture but Peacock Feathers is a gorgeous purple and green duochrome. I will write a review and a comparison of the tc later this week.

ChG Adore with OPI Breathe Life

ChG Adore with OPI Breathe Life

So after having worn Chg Adore for some days I decided to try out my new polish from OPI. But rather than doing a whole new mani, I just put one coat on top of the excisting mani and got the rather gorgeous mani pictured above.

OPI Breathe Life is a Limited Edition (LE) polish created exclusively for the Lung Cancer Foundation of America. I have a close family member that had lung cancer 15 years ago and is still alove today (85% of diagnosed patients will die within 5 years of less). I like it when a company cares and it is a bonus that the color is very pretty. Lets help them find a cure!

NOTD China Glaze Adore

19 May

A beautiful turquoise from the China Glaze Romantique Collection this spring. The color is abseloutely gorgeous, but as it is a metallic there are slight problems with visible brush strokes. With careful application it can be a one coater (provides you don’t drag the polish and get bald spots – something I always do!).

2 coats Orly Armor, 1 coat CND Stickey, 2 coats Chg Adore and 1 coat SV

NOTD China Glaze Caribbean Blue

15 May

A gorgeous sparkly blue from the China Glaze Bahama Blues Collection, all blues! And pure bliss. All i have tried (I have 3 out of 6 in the collection) is really great, in terms of opacity, formula, ease of application.

2 coat of Orly Armor, CND Stickey, 3 coats of polish, 1 coat SV.

Look out for my special 17th of May mani (Norwegian National Day) on Sunday!

NOTD N.Y.C. Taxi Yellow Creme

10 May

Spring is here and it’s time for some spring appropriate colors on the blog! Problem with that is that they tend to be more on the sheer side and that is something I’m not that fond of (despite of my large collection of sheers). They leave VNL (visible nail line) and my problem is I am allergic to it!

The polish is a gorgeous pale yellow with shimmer and is my substitute for the gorgeous and US exclusive Chanel Sunrise, and on that note it does its job.  However it is a streaky mess and it took 6 coats to get it to even remotely look ok and to resemble bottle color. It is almost acceptable, but can safely say this is not a polish I will reach for too often.

2 coats Orly Armor, 1 coat CND Stikey, 6 coats of polish, 1 coat SV.

NOTD Essie Sexy Divide

10 May

I love this color! From my favorit color group purple comes this sexy Essie – far from their usual reds and sheers! It is part of the 2008 winter collection, all of the colors were dark, shimmery and beautiful! (NOTD pictures taken a couple of weeks ago, nails were shorter then).

The color is heavily pigmented, but due to my habit of dragging polish (not something you’d want to learn…) it took three coats to achieve opacity on the entire nail. But formula was ok and the skinny Essie brush is not to bad once you get used to it.

2 coats Orly Armour, 1 CND Stickey, 3 Essie SD, 1 SV.

NOTD Rescue Beautly Lounge Teal

9 May
RBL Teal

RBL Teal

IMG_0543My new polishes from the RBL sale travelled across the Atlantic in just one week! So my mani today is this gorgeous deep creme teal (appropriately named Teal), 1 of the 2 polished I bought. See under for the second.

I am very pleased with the polish, both the color, opacity (only used 2 layers) and the consistency.

Mani is 2 coats Orly Armor, 1 CND Stickey, 2 coats RBL Teal and 1 Seche Vite (SV) top coat.
