NOTD China Glaze Cowardly Lyn’ + bonus christmas nail art

From the China Glaze winter 2010 Wizards of Ooh Ahz collection. It is a re-release of a collection that came in 2001 and the polishes (except for Ruby Pumps that is in the core collection) have been notoriously hard to find. The new release was highly anticipated.

Cowardly Lyn’ is a frosty gold with gold glitter. Normally I don’t go for frosty polishes, but I really like this one. Think it’s the glitter that makes it so lovely. It takes several layers to get opaque, I wore both this and it’s cousin, the silver The Ten Man, with VNL (visible nail line). But despite this and the fact that it is frosty I like it

Coats: 2 Orly Armor, 1 coat CND Stikey, 3 coats CL and 1 Nubar Diamont.
Light: Daylight, overcast.

My christmas mani, poorly excecuted nail art:
It is not the most pretty nail art and I used ages doing the stripes. I did not have a pink nail art pen and mixed the Misa Heaven White and the red nail art pen to get a pink. I have all the equipment for great nail art, but will let it rest for now – leaving it up to the experts

Coats: 2 Orly Armor, 1 coat CND Stikey, 3 coats Misa Heaven White, 1 coat Misa Sugar Daddy and 1 Nubar Diamont. Stripes are made by red and white nail art pen.
Light: Daylight, overcast.

Swatches of my 2 other China Glaze glitters

As I mentioned in the Meteor Shower NOTD post I had purchased two other polishes from the China Glaze glitter collection. I basically got the ones I really wanted first, maybe I’ll get some more later. With 50 new polishes coming out in the same collection it is easy to feel overwhelmed I found

1st polish pictured is Atlantis, a sea green base with blue and greeen polish. It is noce, but I would not wear it on my own. Would benefit from a blue/green base color, check out A Stroke of Colors swatch of the polish layered over ChG Adore.

2nd polish is Cosmic, black base with multicolored glitter. The glitter in this one was more sparsly than in the others I tried, and some of the silver glitter had attached it self to the side of the bottle and was not mixing with the polish. It is the one out of the three that I like the least, for no particular reason other than it didn”t kick my favorite black glitter polish ass – Sephora by OPI Never Enough Shoes!

The pictures you see here are only swatches, three coats of both but without base and top coat. Because of this the glitter was easily removed, wich is more than I can say for the removal of Meteor Shower – am bying felt before I wear any other glitter polish!

Pictures are taken indoor with fluorescent light, and am a bit blurry. Sorry about that, but the daylight is short and we are not blessed with a lot of sunshine at the moment…

NOTD China Glaze Meteor Shower

This autumn China Glaze came out with 50 new glitter polishes and as a first haul I got three polishes, not surprisingly in the dark category Will have swatches of the two others later in the week.

Meteor Shower has a dark blue base (the kind that looks black in some light) with blue, green and some copper glitter. It is stunning! The polish is not smooth, but I’m sure with more layers of top coat it would be smoother. I included a blurry picture to show the glitter better. In the pictures it looks like the polish is not even, that seems to be a optical illusion – it is even IRL.

Coats: 2 Orly Armor, 3 coats Meteor Shower and 1 Nubar Diamont.
Light: Inside with artificial light.

NOTD China Glaze Vampy

A vampy color for the vampy season, perfect color for autum. In these pictures you see the vampyness in the first picture and the gorgeous shimmer in the second. The dent I have no idea how got there, it just got there. Too bad I didn’t notice it when just got there as I could have used my Orly Smudge Fixer. It is still unused and that is not a bad thing, but hoped to try it

Coats: 2 Orly Armor, 2 Vampy and 1 Nubar Diamont.

Back by popular demand! The original collection came out many years ago and the original polishes are very hard to find. ChG have listened to their customers plees and am bringing it back. It will be out spring 2010 and I’m guessing all my fellow nailblogger will be hunting it down and e-tailers will sell out quickly…

NOTD OPI You Ottaware Purple + Chg Orange Marmalade Pedi

Purple OPI from the Canadian Collection fall 2004. I love purples and this is no exception. It took 4 coats to get close to bottle color, so a bit thin. The color a vivid medium purple, and it looks maroon/purplish on the first coat but gradually builds to a nice purple shimmer. (Please excuse the tip pull/wear, I’m working on eliminating it!)

(NOTD) Layering experiment

So after having worn Chg Adore for some days I decided to try out my new polish from OPI. But rather than doing a whole new mani, I just put one coat on top of the excisting mani and got the rather gorgeous mani pictured above.

OPI Breathe Life is a Limited Edition (LE) polish created exclusively for the Lung Cancer Foundation of America. I have a close family member that had lung cancer 15 years ago and is still alove today (85% of diagnosed patients will die within 5 years of less). I like it when a company cares and it is a bonus that the color is very pretty. Lets help them find a cure!
